Mo Farah swept to victory in the 10,000 metres at the Rio Olympics early this morning, giving Team GB a spectacular Super Saturday and reigniting the spirit of London 2012.

Farah overcame a fall when he was accidentally tripped by his American training partner Galen Rupp, before leaving his rivals in his wake in the final yards.

Mo Farah triumphs in the 10,000m in Rio last night, becoming the first track athlete in British history to win three Olympic gold medals

After the event, a clearly emotional Farah said: “I wasn’t going to let it go. I got up quickly. I thought about my family.

“I thought, ‘Get through; get through.’ I believed in myself.
